Um PDF descreve uma página impressa, não um documento com parágrafos. Por isso a maioria dos programas recusa mudar uma palavra depois de o ficheiro estar criado.
O RetypePDF lê as instruções de texto dentro da página e reescreve-as. A palavra substituída desaparece mesmo do ficheiro — não fica coberta. O texto continua selecionável e pesquisável, e o ficheiro não engorda.
Alterações curtas — um nome, uma data, uma referência — comportam-se de forma previsível. O que não faz: recompor parágrafos, nem editar páginas digitalizadas. Uma digitalização é uma fotografia; lá dentro não há texto para reescrever.
How it works

- Download. The result is a normal PDF — selectable text, no watermark, same file size.
Real text editing, not a white box
Most free online PDF editors fake it. They draw a white rectangle over the words you wanted to change and print new text on top. It looks fine until you put it on a coloured background, or until somebody selects the text and finds the original wording still sitting underneath.
RetypePDF rewrites the text operators inside the PDF itself. The old words are genuinely gone — not hidden, not covered. The page stays vector text you can search and select, and the file does not balloon in size.

Your file never leaves your device
Editing runs entirely in your browser. The PDF is not uploaded, not stored on a server, and not readable by us — which matters, because the documents people actually need to fix are invoices, contracts, payslips and statements. The only thing our server ever receives is a count of how many documents you processed, so your daily allowance can be tracked.
There is exactly one exception, and you control it: if a result comes out wrong you can send us a problem report. That never happens automatically. Reports carry only a technical summary by default — no text from your document — and including the document itself is a separate box you tick each time.

Editar vai estragar a paginação?
A linha editada mantém a posição, o tipo de letra e o tamanho, mas o texto não se recompõe. Um substituto muito mais comprido ultrapassa o fim da linha. Alterações curtas — nome, data, referência — são previsíveis; reescrever um parágrafo não.
Porque é que algumas linhas não se deixam editar?
Porque editá-las corromperia o ficheiro. Um PDF só incorpora os glifos que usa; para uma letra que nunca apareceu, o tipo de letra não tem desenho. Em vez de imprimir um quadrado vazio, o RetypePDF recusa a alteração e diz que caracteres faltam.
