Zoek een gratis PDF-editor en je vindt vooral gereedschap dat gratis is tot het moment dat het ertoe doet. Gratis uploaden, gratis bewerken — en dan een watermerk dwars over de pagina, of een kaartformulier tussen jou en je eigen document.
Hier is ook de download gratis. Twintig documenten per dag, zonder account, zonder watermerk. Er bestaat geen betaalde versie waarvan de gratis de uitgeklede variant is: er wordt niets verkocht.
Waar de grens ligt: na twintig documenten op één dag vragen we één zin over hoe het werkte, en de rest van de dag is vrij. Dat is het hele verdienmodel. Dit project komt feedback tekort, geen geld.
How it works
- Open your PDF. It loads straight into the browser. No upload, no queue, no account.
- Click the line you want to change. Every editable line is detected and clickable. Type the new text over it.
- Download. The result is a normal PDF — selectable text, no watermark, same file size.
Real text editing, not a white box
Most free online PDF editors fake it. They draw a white rectangle over the words you wanted to change and print new text on top. It looks fine until you put it on a coloured background, or until somebody selects the text and finds the original wording still sitting underneath.
RetypePDF rewrites the text operators inside the PDF itself. The old words are genuinely gone — not hidden, not covered. The page stays vector text you can search and select, and the file does not balloon in size.

Your file never leaves your device
Editing runs entirely in your browser. The PDF is not uploaded, not stored on a server, and not readable by us — which matters, because the documents people actually need to fix are invoices, contracts, payslips and statements. The only thing our server ever receives is a count of how many documents you processed, so your daily allowance can be tracked.
There is exactly one exception, and you control it: if a result comes out wrong you can send us a problem report. That never happens automatically. Reports carry only a technical summary by default — no text from your document — and including the document itself is a separate box you tick each time.

Waarom zetten andere gratis editors een watermerk?
Omdat het watermerk het product is: je betaalt om het weg te halen. Dat model heeft een betaalde versie nodig om te verkopen, en die is hier niet. Het gedownloade bestand verschilt alleen in de tekst die je wijzigde.
Wat kan een gratis PDF-editor niet?
Deze kan geen gescande documenten bewerken — een scan is een afbeelding zonder tekst — en geen alinea's laten doorlopen. Wijzigingen waarvan het ingebedde lettertype de tekens niet kan tekenen, weigert hij in plaats van lege blokjes te drukken.
